Magic Leap is a US-based company founded in 2010 that specializes in the development of head-mounted displays and AR platforms. The technology company’s investors include Google and software manufacturer Qualcomm.
With the Magic Leap One Smart Glass Magic Leap positions itself between Google Glass and Microsoft’s HoloLens. Like other smart glasses, the Magic Leap One provides access into augmented reality by projecting 3D images and real-world objects directly in front of the user’s eye. Magic Leap uses silicon photonics technology to bring a field of view directly in front of the user’s eyes. Additional sensors provide orientation in the room. For flexible use in various professional contexts, the device has both a Bluetooth and a W-LAN interface, with which the Magic Leap Smart Glasses can be easily integrated into the existing network.
The head-mounted display is also supported by an ecosystem of diverse applications based on the Magic Leap AR platform. Applications available include 3D object visualization, content management, educational content creation, and mixed reality environments.
